10 Veterans Defending Their Flag

Investigation Finds University of Phoenix Paid U.S. Military for Prefere...

Published on Jul 24, 2015
In 2012, President Barack Obama issued an executive order banning deceptive and aggressive recruiting practices by for-profit colleges, which had been targeting veterans and members of the active-duty military in an effort to capture their GI Bill money.

But an investigation by Reveal’s Aaron Glantz found that by cultivating a cozy relationship with the armed forces, the school that receives the largest share of GI Bill money – the University of Phoenix – has circumvented the rules Obama put in place.

The for-profit school’s strategy has included engaging in recruitment drives disguised as résumé workshops and utilizing military insignia's in school marketing without the required permissions. The strategy also has led the company to pay the military to sponsor hundreds of events on military bases across the country, from rock concerts to Super Bowl parties and father-daughter dances.

You can also watch our investigation on the PBS NewsHour.

Great video! But I feel like the idiot didn't look for other schools to get into for his masters. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business with the University of Phoenix and got accepted to Texas A&M University-Commerce for their MBA program. All credits are transferable regardless of what the media has been telling you.

But it didn't happen in this case. The gentleman had to start over.

Just a bit infuriating...
Save your GI Bill benefits until you can attend a state school. For-profit Universities really aren't worth it the vast majority of the time. You don't get a higher quality education, and you certainly don't get additional recognition outside of extremely prestigious Universities.

Great video. I absolutely detest the University of Phoenix.

TIME
(On average, every 45 minutes or so....try to remind your self just for today,
of what happens every 45 minutes)
Veterans day is upon us and I hope that first of all, people get out and vote. Peopled died for that right. Just as the soldier from Fort Hood below, and one or more that will be killed in action today or tomorrow. As well, there are the 22 million veterans back here, at home and to consider for a moment, the situations out there, in our Country, these men and women that wind up homeless, destitute, hungry every minute of the day, to the extreme of those feel that end their lives. The ones that become hopeless, because maybe an ass at the VA treated them terribly, who knows, but were failed by the system none the less. And then there are the situations such as Benghazi. If you do not know the facts as they have been released, I challenge you to check this out. Those ripped off at ITT Tech, just like at Trump University, hey, did you reach out for help? Have the door slammed in your face? Must have been some that hell no, not acceptable' along with other choice words that have an emphasis of their own. One thing is for sure, there will be change unless you make it happen. If a push here and a push there, and it may not seem like much to you, in some way that effort will make a difference. For the same token, those do nothing, nothing but smart ass comments and bullying ways, the good in America always seems to squash that. The good we as a whole is empowering. But right now, those veterans for example, that will end their lives today, the 20+ on average that do this, please see if you can make a difference. I am going to post a link and I hope people will will look at this. And, please forward to others and do what you can. The conscious is a funny thing at times. Fort hose that do agree, hit the like button. I'm just curious, by nature. Those that aren't, well, okay, let me know, and then lets disconnect, that's pretty clear cut. Will save a little time in the future. SMILE. Here is the link.
